How a Celebrity Death Pool works in RIPdraft
This page is a plain-English walkthrough. For nitty-gritty rules, your league admin is the source of truth—but every celebrity death pool on RIPdraft follows the same core flow below.
Create or join a league
A league admin creates a season, sets options (draft size, veto rules, timing), and shares a join code. You claim a slot in that league for the calendar year you are playing.
Run the draft
Teams pick celebrities in snake order—like a fantasy draft. Picks usually need a solid Wikipedia presence so names and dates stay consistent for scoring.
Optional vetoes
Some leagues vote on whether a pick is “famous enough” or fits house rules. If a pick fails the vote, it may be void for that year depending on settings your admin chose.
Play the season
Once the draft locks, your celebrity death pool runs for the league’s in-season window. Standings and timelines update as events are confirmed.
Scoring
When a drafted celebrity dies during the active season window, points are 100 minus their age at death, with a minimum of 2 points per hit. Younger deaths score higher; every confirmed hit still earns at least those two points.
